Too many players use alts on a regular basis, for specialized purposes, for alternate income, to circumvent game mechanics, to play on several corp or fool other players... I believe it degrade the game because the choice and actions players make have less meaning, and it's more difficult to have online friends if they spread their time on several alts all over the game world. This also make game balance totally whacked when so much grinding is happening and isks just flow like water between players and alts.
What do you think?
What alt problem? There isn't an alt problem. If anything it's quite the opposite because it gives CCP more money to develop, maintain and enchance the game for everyone. If I want to spend money on 3 accounts, what's to stop me? If I want to buy 3 bottles of whiskey and 90 boxes of cigarettes what's to stop me?
Also why should I be restricted to one character? I might want to conduct dodgy activities on one, mine on another, trade on another and so on. The only way you can cover many aspects of EVE is to have multiple characters each focus on that specific area. Ie, PVP, PVE, trading, mining, etc.
Without alts people won't be able to experience the full game within a reasonable amount of time. I really don't see what the problem is with someone running 4 accounts and managing their own mining corp, doing all the mining and hauling themselves. If they're paying for it, then it's clearly their choice.
Yes I'm an alt, yes I use a covops alt to probe people and then attack them with my main and again why shouldn't I? If I have no corp mates online then I need to rely on myself. Besides, what's the difference if I have someone probe for me or do it myself? It doesn't matter. Same amount of users logged on, same amount of load, blah blah blah. The only difference is that if I'm not more careful one of my toons will get popped as I'm having to deal with two things at once.
These game mechanics that you talk about which are being circumvented, what exactly are they? None. That's what. Because it's nothing that can't be accomplished with another person.
You sound like someone who has been butthurt by a pirate and prober alt or someone who's generally butthurt because you're ****ed that you don't have the same ISK earning potential. Do something about it, or get over it!
